Andrea Genovese is a PhD candidate and AES member at MARL's Immersive Audio research group lead by Dr. Roginska. His main academic interests lie in the fields of psychoacoustics, signal processing, and data analysis of spatial audio applied to the context of Virtual Reality. Current research looks at HRTF degradation, flexible VR acoustic rendering, room-acoustics parametrization and the effect of spatial audio on distributed music systems (HoloDeck).
Andrea was recently a research intern at Microsoft and THX. Within NYU he is an adjunct DSP lab teacher and is a co-manager of the Immersive Audio Interest Group, a society of students with an extra-curricular interest in recording and producing interactive music experiences for Virtual Reality reproduction. In his past, Andrea earned a MEng degree in EE at the University of York UK, with a thesis on plausible binaural audio perception, and spent a year at Fraunhofer IIS in Erlangen, Germany, working on signal processing for efficient binaural audio real-time rendering.
