Art Submissions Open for "Voices in Urban Education"'s 51st Issue & Competition

We invite interested students to submit their art to be considered for our 51st issue of Voices in Urban Education (VUE), “Education in Divisive Times: Exploring the Complexities of Schooling in a Trying Political Era."

Some topics covered in the issue include:

  • Immigration and family separation
  • School rules on gender and sexual identity expression
  • Dress codes, hair codes, language policing in schools
  • Conversations on Current events in the classroom
  • Gun violence

This is an awesome opportunity for student artists looking to showcase their creative skills. The journal VUE (at NYU Metro Center) is seeking talented students to design themed posters based on how the current climate of the U.S. today is affecting your experience in school.

Entries will be judged by a select group of jurors on the VUE Editorial Board on their execution of the theme, artistic merit, design, originality, technical excellence, and content.

The winner of this competition will receive a $150 reward and will have their poster included as the cover art for the 50th issue of VUE. Additional awards of $50 will be given to artists whose art is included in this issue. We anticipate including approximately six drawings in addition to the cover art inside the 51st issue.

To submit your artwork and any questions to nyumetro-vue@nyu.edu.

All submissions must be received by December 12, 2019. In the submission email please include your name, the title of your piece(s), and a 1-3 sentence description of your art.

Voices in Urban Education (VUE) is a journal that brings together a wide range of individuals who are impacted by and impact education. Each issue considers a specific topic related to education.
