NYSABE Announces 43rd Annual Conference

The bilingual education community from across New York State will gather in White Plains on March 19-21 for the 43rd annual conference of the New York State Association for Bilingual Education (NYSABE).
With hundreds of thousands of New York State students speaking more than 200 languages other than English at home, and recognizing the benefits of bilingualism in school, the workplace, and in the global community, NYSABE is a leading organization, with a more than 40 year history, that promotes and advocates for bilingual programs in schools and districts across the New York. This year’s 43rd annual conference, entitled Fostering Collaborative Instructional Leadership in Bilingual Education: Equity in Action will be held on March 19-21, 2020, at the Crowne Plaza-White Plains Downtown Hotel, 66 Hale Ave, White Plains, NY 10601.


Join educators, parents, students, community leaders, and elected officials involved in the education of New York State’s English language learners (ELLs)/multilingual learners at the three-day event, focusing on collaborative instructional leadership and educational equity for multilingual learners, will offer a broad range of research-based innovative instructional strategies and pedagogical frameworks that will inspire and energize participants to strive for equitable and quality bilingual education for ELLs/multilingual learners.

Sessions will address current policy, effective planning and implementation strategies, best classroom practices and meaningful resources for bilingual education program models, including dual language. Other topics will include bilingual special education, culturally and linguistically responsive/sustaining education, pre-k education for ELLs/multilingual learners, and much more! The conference program will also include an exciting Leadership Strand on Saturday that will offer inspiring direction for present and future educational leaders.

This year's conference features Metro's own Dr. David Kirkland and Dr. Pedro Noguera as keynote speakers.
