Ben Schwab staff photoBen Schwab is a Junior Research Analyst (I) at the Research Alliance for New York City Schools. Ben is interested in governance, school choice, and public-private collaborations within urban school settings. He currently supports the Research Alliance’s evaluations of the Expanded Success Initiative and the NYC Department of Education’s InnovateNYC Ecosystem.

Ben’s previous research has focused on the “policy transfer” process—the process by which policy travels across borders and governing systems. He received a Harriman PepsiCo Research Fellowship to examine the role of government, international organizations, and the higher education system in Armenia in adopting and implementing the Bologna Process reforms. He has also studied the relationship between Kyrgyz teacher and school characteristics in Kyrgyzstan, as part of a UNICEF study led by Gita Steiner-Khamsi.

Previously, Ben worked as a teacher in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He also spent three years serving in the U.S. Peace Corps in Armenia, where he worked on English language teacher-development and assessments for the National Institute of Education, and taught English.

Ben holds an M.A. in International Comparative Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and a B.A. in political science from the University of North Texas.
