Sophie McGuinness staff photoSophie McGuinness is a Research Analyst (I) at the Research Alliance for New York City Schools. She has experience with qualitative research and training in working with large administrative data. Sophie contributes to several Research Alliance projects, including our study of Career Technical Education (CTE) programs in New York City high schools and our collaboration with the Student Success Network.     

As an undergraduate, Sophie contributed to research evaluating capital expenditures and CTE in public schools. This included her work at the Public Policy Institute of California, where she studied stackable credentials programs in CTE in California community colleges. In addition, as a research associate at the UC Davis Center for Poverty Research, Sophie studied K-12 capital expenditures and attrition rates in community colleges and state schools. Sophie has also been a volunteer for the East Bay College Fund, and led a student organization dedicated to improving the experiences and outcomes of women.   

Sophie holds a B.A. in Applied Statistics and a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Davis.
