Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, A Voice for Generation Z, to Receive Honorary Doctorate Presented by Professor Niobe Way at NYU’s 186th Commencement

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will receive an honorary degree presented by Steinhardt Professor Niobe Way at NYU’s 186th Commencement Exercises at Yankee Stadium.

On Wednesday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will receive an honorary doctorate at NYU’s 186th All-University Commencement at Yankee Stadium.  The award will be presented by Steinhardt Professor Niobe Way, who nominated Trudeau because he shares the core values of the NYU community.

“Justin Trudeau speaks to a generation taking the fight for human decency, love, and respect into their own hands,” Way said. “He embodies through his words and actions the values we hold so dear – inclusiveness, social and economic justice, and a firm belief in our common humanity.”

In November of 2015, Trudeau became Canada’s 23rd prime minister and also serves as the minister of youth. He is focused on creating new jobs, fostering strength out of Canada’s rich diversity, fighting climate change, and achieving reconciliation with indigenous peoples. A proud feminist, Trudeau appointed Canada’s first gender-balanced cabinet.
