AES Awards Given to Undergraduate Students Eric Xu and Ja-Ann Wang

Undergraduate music tech students Eric Xu and Ja-Ann Wang both received awards at this year’s AES conference for their submissions to AES’s student recording competition. Eric Xu received the Bronze award for the Traditional Acoustic Recording category, and Ja-Ann Wang received an honorable mention in the Sound for Visual Media category. Congratulations to both students!

WNYC Radio promotes Music Tech Alumni Band Anamanaguchi

Music Technology Alumni Band Anamanaguchi continues to make great strides. After being asked to score the soundtrack to the video game for “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,” they continue to receive positive reviews and accolades. Check out to read a review and gig promotion of the band from WNYC.

Music Technology hosting AES 131st convention student social

The 131st AES Convention is being held here in New York City from October 20th-23rd, at the Javits Center. The Saturday of the convention, October 22nd,the Music Tech Department will be hosting an AES Student Social on the 6th Floor, from 7-10 pm. You’ll get to meet students from over the world, eat food, and listen to some good music. The cost will be $5, and you can pay and pick up your tickets the week of the AES convention.

Coming to the AES convention in NYC? Please join SWiTCH (Society for Women in TeCHnology) at the Javits Center on Friday, October 21st for a mixer you won’t want to miss. We are the Society of Women in TeCHnology, celebrating and supporting women in audio! At 5:30, you can come meet and mingle with some amazing women in the industry, or just take a break from the day’s events right before the Heyser Lecture. We will have some snacks, and you can also hear about some of the exciting things we are planning including starting a mentoring program for women in all aspects of audio. SWiTCH empowers women to succeed in technology related fields, be it academic or professional, with an emphasis on music technology and the industry and arts professions. Come share ideas, network, or just relax after a day of workshops or working the exhibit floor. Again, we will be at the Javits Center, 5:30-7pm on Friday, October 21st Room 1A03! Open to all, so see you there!
