The NYU Steinhardt Department of Physical Therapy community recently gathered together at the starting line of the 9th annual NYU DPT 5K to celebrate the physical therapy profession and benefit the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research.

Organized by students in the department’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, this year’s 5K race raised over $8,500 in support of the Marquette Challenge, a student-led fundraising effort to advance the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research. Through this funding, the Foundation provides critical scholarships, research grants, and fellowships for those in the field.

Members of the department community walked, ran, or cheered along Pier 84 in Manhattan in honor of physical therapy research and the profession’s commitment to providing care to those in need — be it aging grandparents, wounded veterans, injured athletes, stroke patients, children with cerebral palsy, or others.
